The Grange, Rowner, Gosport

A concrete cube set in a hideous 1960s block of flats, the whole estate is due to be demolished this Summer. The pub will close during April 2012, and redevelopment of the whole site is scheduled to begin within a few weeks. Many of the flats are already empty and boarded, the locals are drifting away and the pub's stock is running down. While it is a shame to see yet another a pub go, it is architecturally no great loss, and one hopes that the new development will include a new pub. That's not guaranteed, however, as we saw with the new Cherque Farm Estate just down the road - miles of cheap housing with no social facilities at all.

But I'm an optimist, so maybe "Son of Grange" will be reveiwed within the next couple of years?

So move quickly if you want to see The Grange's last days, but be aware there is no ale and not much else here.
