Southside is a Taco & Tequila bar that had music straight outta Compton blaring out of the speakers during a recent Monday evening visit. With a bouncer on the door I was surprised to find myself to be the only customer at 21:30, however a small group of twenty-something locals walked in just as I was leaving. I thought this a bit late, but then noted that happy hour(s) were 21:00 – 23:00 and that the opening times are 17:00 until 01:00, and even later until 02:00 Fridays and Saturdays. This explained why the food was so basic, this is a bar and not a Mexican restaurant, which was a shame because I could have murdered a Burrito. Premium and craft keg were available from the bar counter that was being manned by a less then welcoming barman. There’s also an extensive cocktail and Tequila menu. Card payments only. Downstairs is a basement bar that is available for hire.
