Waddies pub off the beaten track. Quite compact and on multiple levels. Enter to main bar with a high raised area for dining off to the left up some steps and a small rear alcove with pool and TV to right. Mustard, brown and green colour scheme, works better in context than it sounds written down as there are nice bits of homely décor. Unusually there are lots of framed pics of modern musicians. For sunny days there is a super-large enclosed character rear garden. We were fortunate enough to rock up whilst the local annual chilli cook-off took place outside the pub, a very well-attended event with a lot of friendly faces. Five ales on; four Waddies and (oddly) Fullers Summer Ale. I had a half of the Summer which was OK but lacked a bit of life. Overall it’s a good pub and worth a visit, shame my half wasn’t quite the top-drawer one I was hoping for to round off an otherwise impressive visit.
