I don't usually venture into this pub branding's bars, but a family get together for a special occasion was kicking off in here so obviously I discarded (temporarily) the habits of a lifetime. The interior is still as described previously, having essentially modern and light furnishings and decor. There was a good smattering of customers in when I visited at Wednesday lunchtime, and I gather it gets busy in the evenings, and very busy at weekends. I know the people who manage the place, so clearly it is a well-managed and professionally run establishment.
There's still no real ale of course, and that's no surprise as Stonegate are definitely not aiming at the real ale market in their Slug & Lettuce bars. I did have a pint of Goose Island IPA, which as it happens is one of my favourite "craft-type" hoppy keg beers. This is nothing like a traditional pub but is fine if you are OK with not drinking real ale in modern madeover bars.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Slug & Lettuce
No excitement here - standard chain bar / restaurant, with the only point of note being the particularly light interior decoration in the various seating / dining areas. No real ale, so made do with a quick Meantime London Pale (£2.60, half).

The Slug & Lettuce is situated in prime position on Beckenhams high street.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the bar is on the right side, the room is bare boarded, the left side is raised and up two steps, the seating is mid sized tables and stools and tall tables and chairs to the right, the left side has bench seating in bays and normal tables and chairs.
There were no real ales on the bar or keg bitters,i had a drink of Heineken which was cold and too fizzy.
There was crap background music playing and the pub was almost empty on my Saturday dinner visit.
I did not like this pub at all,i am easily pleased but there was something i did not like about this pub.
