A large ‘Spoons Hotel and bar that certainly has a lot of kerb appeal and is a good-looking building, inside though there’s no special features to talk of and it’s the usual ‘Spoons décor and multi area layout.
It is currently included in CAMRA’s GBG so having some time to kill I made the effort to have a look to see why.
Two sets of five ale pumps, one with Thornbridge Jaipur and Titanic White Star alongside the usual trilogy of doom. Then Titanic Plum Porter, Ashover Brew Co. Rainbows End Session Pale, Daleside Old Legover and Beermats Brewing Sum’mat Blonde and one other that I did not note on the other, and basically all at £2.89 a pint.
Fairly smart toilets down from the main bar and as usual some interesting local facts framed on the corridor down, one of which was an interesting piece about Geoff Capes, who apparently lived in the town at some point.
