This pub’s name may have changed to the Townhouse back in 2013, but the interior and facilities, such as live sport and a pool table, are pretty much how I remember them from my visit back in 2011. During my recent Friday afternoon visit the TVs were muted to make way for some background music from the jukebox.
Carling and a premium keg range are available, and I counted 3 hand pumps. Two of these were off leaving Sharp’s Doom bar as the lone real ale choice. Cheap pub grub is available with deals such as ‘two mains for £12’.
I found the pub itself to be unremarkable, but the service was extremely welcoming meaning that I will pop back in when next in Bexhill.

Bar One was very busy when I visited a couple of Fridays ago as the final England Euro 2012 qualifier was being shown via Sky Sports on the seven plasma screens. Most of the customers were in their twenties and thirties and one would probably describe them as a football crowd, although there were plenty of ladies present. At the rear of the pub is a pool table, dartboard and a DJ booth. I imagine that the pool table gets moved to one side to create a dance floor when a music event is in progress. The bar is quite long and stocks standard draught products from which I received a decent pint of Guinness from a friendly member of staff. Food is served and very reasonably priced, but I didn’t spot anyone eating. Back to at least 2004 this pub was known as the Castle Hotel. This is a decent enough sports pub and I would return to watch another match.
