Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The George Hotel
Landmark pub / restaurant / hotel on the village's main T-junction, although the stone facade looks quite plain on an overcast day until you get near enough to see the detailing. Refurbished in a smart upmarket style during a closure following severe flooding during Storm Babet in 2023. Multi-room interior with the bar on the left-hand side, with four handpumps offering a range of cask beers including Bakewell Best from Peak Ales (£4.75) and Thornbridge's The Union (£5.80).

I had a very similar experience to Alan (below) but several years earlier, and in fact I just walked out. The news, a quarter of a century later, that the interior of this old building had been transformed, with a selection of cask beers on the bar, prompted a revisit. There are four hand pumps (see photo), and the pub part of the building, to the left on entering the foyer, has three distinct areas. This is a comfortable and pub-like space, though at the posh hotel end of the spectrum. The lass serving was friendly and helpful, and my pint of local Peak Ales Bakewell Best was very good (NBSS 3.5) and cost £4.75. The area to the right is a sort of extended lounge, light and airy, with a dining room behind. I could do without the anthropomorphic animal pictures, but this is a better than tolerable place for a beer now.

The George is a decent looking pub on the outside but once you get inside things go downhill fast its been completly stripped out with pine floors and modern decor 90% of the pub is laid out for diners but nobody was eating as i was the only customer there was a small bar area in the corner that sold crap beer in the shape of Boddingtons smooth flow, this isnt a pub for locals or normal drinkers dont bother with this place.
