If you give your pub the monic of a beer emporium, then you are setting expectations and a high bar that you could fail to meet, especially when your nearest neighbour is a fantastic brew pub regularly providing up to twelve well kept ales. Fortunately that is not the case here and we entered to find another impressive range of eight hand-pumps in front of us providing a very good range of ale styles and strengths, all with clear pricing showing that they varied from £3.90 to £4.10.
For our visit the hand pumps were drawing three from Oakham ( Oakham Citra, Fiend Oatmeal Stout and 3 Witches Golden Ale), Abbeydale Moonshine Pale Ale, Red Willow Feckless Best Bitter, Little Critters Little Hopper Pale Ale, Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold and Liquid Light Stupid and Contagious Hazy IPA, so a decent line up of styles and breweries to complement their nearest neighbours.
I liked the decor of this one, with nautical themed wall paper on both the walls and ceilings and then plenty of beer and breweriana dotted about, along with quite a few music themed pieces, as I believe live music is a thing here on Saturdays. I know it’s slightly childish for a man of my age, but I had to giggle at the Penny Lane L18 street sign being used above the corridor behind the bar that led to the toilets.

Formerly the Neptune Inn – I too don’t know why the Emporium suffix applies – the Neppy as it’s known to regulars is in the GBG 2026.
I counted eight pumps, my Oakham Fiend £2.00 a half and fine.
Worth including on a crawl.

Close to the Chesterfield Arms ,and worth including as a double header ,the bar is immediately infront of you from the entrance door while down to side are some keg taps.Seating on both wings of the pub which has a relaxed ale house vibe.
The handpumps were drawing Oakham Citra (NBSS 3.5) 3 Witches and Fiend,Red Willow Feckless,Little Critters Little Hopper,Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold and Liquid Light Stupid and Contagoius.
This was such a brief visit on a crawl I didn't note that much apart from the very decent pricing of the ale and how a longer visit next time would be a good idea.
