A typical Marstons estate-cum-shopping centre pub, and though its position just below the level of the road leading into Woodfield Plantation suggests there might be an old building lurking in there somewhere, the layout of the place is typical of hundreds of similar pubs. Entrance from the car park around the back, through a bit of beer garden, through the double doors to be greeted by the ice cream counter (out of order) next to the bar. There is a line of hand pumps on the next corner, with just Pedigree and Wainwright. Service was polite and to the point (I'd asked what beers were on, and was told those two and Marstons Smooth). I took my half of Pedigree to a quiet corner - next to the pool table, where a group of lads were having a game. As my beer warmed slightly it became more evident that it was not in the first flush of youth; not undrinkable but not pleasant either - probably ok if you're a fan of over-ripe bananas. Should have gone for the Smooth.
