Alan Winfield left this review about The Moonrakers
The Moonrakers is a typical looking estate pub.
Once inside there was an oblong shaped bar to the front, there was a pool table in the middle of the room and bench seating facing the bar, there were only three tables and stools in the room one either end of the bench seating and one next to the bar, there was a leather settee to the left which faced a fire place, the room was carpeted,it seemed a bit on the dowdy side to me.
There was a larger seperate lounge to the rear right which looked comfy enough, but this room was empty on my Saturday dinner visit.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Wm Youngers best which is a very unusuall keg beer to see, this was drinkable but nothing special, the other keg bitter was John Smiths Extra Cold crap.
This is another pub on the Newbold estate that seems like it has'nt altered in years.
