This country pub is now operated by Brampton Brewery. As Will describes below, the layout hasn't altered apart from decorative alterations. We were on the bus returning from Bakewell, when I asked the lady bus driver to give us a call when we were near the pub. Even better than that, she stopped the bus right outside on the pub forecourt and the passengers luv'd it. So a good entrance, the young manageress couldn't believe it.
We stayed a lot longer than anticipated as the beer quality and choices were superb.
6 ales on handpump, 3 from Brampton, Best, Mild and Golden Bud. Plus 3 guests, Keltek Panning for Gold, Tindall Solar Flare and Brass Castle Bright Pale. Beer prices were £3.90 a pint and one of the Bramptons was £2.90 a pint. A gem.

A two roomed cottage-style pub, with an extension to the side for the toilets - that's how small it is. The left hand room had three hand pumps and we could see two more on the bar counter in the room to the right, though we didn't explore there as there was a group of locals with a large dog - the sort of dog that the owners feel the need to explain that he's quite friendly really.
The beers available on our side of the bar were Timothy Taylor Landlord, Abbeydale Moonshine and Greene King Yardbird. My notes made at the time describe the beer as "undistinguished"; since they are all different beers, I presume that I intended to indicate a lack of flavour or condition to make them worthy of note. Or perhaps I was just in a grumpy mood: the comment "poor quality background music" tends to support the latter.
