The Dorset has an L shaped bar at its front and a room at the rear that is full of tables and chairs for diners who want to tuck into the very reasonably priced food. Deuchars was the ale option from the lone hand pump and the draught available from the bar was Guinness, Amstel, Kronenburg and Symonds cider. I didn’t spot any TVs, but there was some reggae music playing in the background. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday evening and half of the crowd was eating whilst the other chatted over a drink. There was a waitress wandering around and this place is food led, but I still thought it a comfortable enough place just for a beer.
The Deuchars was spot on and the service very friendly so even though this is not a place I would naturally revisit, as I like a traditional pub, I would still pop back in for a beer if passing.

I've always regarded The Dorset as more restaurant/bistro than pub. Certainly the food is very good - no complaints from any of us in terms of quality, quantity and value. Locally-caught fish features, as do vegetarian options.
Only spotted one draught ale - Deuchars, although there is also a small list of bottled beers, including Leffe and a traditional ale (can't remember which, though).
Handy for the local trendy attractions, including a vegetarian shoe shop and Komedia in Gardner Street.
It seems that they need to renew their domain name, as the link is currently inactive.

This pub is located slap-bang in the middle of the North Laine area of Brighton amongst all the kitsch shops and kooky shoppers, yet presents itself as a fairly straightforward, ordinary looking modern pub.
There was a good selection of ale, including a very tasty pint of Adnams Broadside and if I remember correctly, there was a pretty decent cider selection as well. Service was pretty laid-back and friendly and we were lucky enough to visit on a warm day, which meant we could drink outside on tables arranged in the closed off street.
