Superb pub. Idyllic setting in the shadows of Hardwick Hall, this doesn't just rest on its tourist laurels.
Interesting interior as epected from a 16th Century Pub. Lovely seating outside.
Very good pint of Chatsworth Gold but it was the food that was outstanding. The best Mixed Grill I have had for a long, long time.

Sunday tea october 2010
This is an extremely beautiful place , had booked for 25 of us on a trip back from London , the food was excellent , big portion , extremely tasty and very good value for money .

Lunchtime Late September 2007
Superb! Magnificent! All superlatives are appropriate to describe this wonderful inn. There is the possibility that this establishment could become a victim of its own success; it is extremely popular with visitors to nearby Hardwick Hall. The food is simple and superb and the Staff have the ability to handle the many customers with friendly efficiency. Had Bess realised, she would have left the hall and lived here
