Starting point this evening opposite the station but visited as a tick off on way to venue opposite. Typical bar area at the side of the restaurant part of a Harvester. Actually thought the bar area was the most pub like of others in the chain I have ticked off. Outside there is some wrap around patio seating with old school benches and tables. Inside some tables dotted around the bar facing you as you walk through the front door.
Beers were a ragged keg range comprising a nap hand of lagers (Carling, Stella, Madri, Peroni and San Miguel), two ciders being Stowford Press and a fruit cider from Strongbow with Guinness and John Smiths completing the range.
It is here, open (although saying that they are closing for refurbishment just as the Euro’s are starting much to the delight of the small bar opposite) and with not much else around they presumably provide a service to diners.

I popped in here for a swift half having a little time to kill before an important engagement nearby. There's no real ale of course, which is no surprise being part of the Harvester chain. They couldn't produce a sherry either, which didn't go down well with Mrs R.
Being a Harvester it's obviously food-led, with the larger restaurant area on the right, and with the separate bar area on the left. Obviously if you plan to eat you have to wait to be seated. It was fairly quiet at lunchtime on a wet and cold Wednesday in December, and the rotten weather gave it a charmless atmosphere. Maybe it was a bit better in the restaurant, but I didn't get to explore that area. At some point it might have been a good pub, but the bar area now doesn't score highly in the pub rankings. Of course it is the only pub for miles (and I'm not counting the cocktail bar over the road), and I suppose it's possible that one day it might return to primarily pub use, but I'm not holding my breath.
