Will Larter left this review about The George
The former George & Dragon was reopened by the owners of the Three Horseshoes on Market Street as a more food-oriented pub. The bar counter is facing on entering from the main road, though there is also a way in to the left hand side via the patio, or from the car park at the rear. Three hand pumps with just Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold and Timothy Taylor Landlord on at the time of my visit on a bank holiday Monday afternoon. The young lass working on her own was just about coping, but she started to pour a pint of the Chatsworth when I had asked for a half, though she recovered well. My beer was not as good as it can be, though this was not because of being poured from a pint glass into a half - it was a little hazy and not as good as I know this beer can be (NBSS 2.5).

Alan Winfield left this review about George & Dragon
The George and Dragon is a decent looking stone built pub that is situated next to a busy crossroads.
Once inside there was an L shaped room with the bar facing, the room was carpeted and had very comfy bench seating and normal tables and chairs, there was a pool table to the right and lots of normal tables and chairs to the left.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Oakham Citra which was a very nice drink, the other beers were Wentworth bitter and Batemans XXXB.
There is an outside terrace to the rear of the pub which overlooks open countryside.
The pub had a nice feel to it and i had a good chat with the youngish barmaid who was very helpfull in telling me about pubs in Clay Cross.
I liked this pub that much i came back for another drink of Oakham Citra before catching my bus.
