Barn GK outlet serving the shopping centre. Thumping hits from the 80s at 9pm on a Saturday night and a couple of half-cut local lasses shambling around on or near the dancefloor with the boxing looming over the rest of the pub. Two cask, half a GK IPA in a plastic cup set me back 3 quid - at least it was drinkable (NBSS 2.5). Awful, but in an entertaining manner. 3.5

This is a bit of a plastic chain pub built in 1997 on the Freemans Leisure Park site next to the Odeon cinema, Nando’s and Mecca Bingo and across the way from Morrisons. That makes it equi-distant between the Walkers Ground and the Leicester Tigers ground.
It’s very much in the mould of a spoons (except for any decent ale) in that it tries to drag people in with food and drink deals (Two for one on main meals, that sort of thing). Unfortunately the beer is only John Smith Keg which is usually just bearably drinkable and the foods not up to much either.
The service can be patchy also, especially as they run a separate till for food orders which appears to need a member of Mensa to operate it.
So why bother? Well it’s handy for a pre or post pictures pint and as its pretty big (can seat over 200) so you can usually get a table, even on match days if you get there early enough.
Otherwise, frankly I wouldn’t bother and would be off to some of the decent pubs in Leicester town centre..
