During an early evening visit on a Tuesday late last year I was the only customer in this pub of two bars. There is a dartboard in the rear bar and the governor was smashing a few balls around the pool table. Some background music was playing off the jukebox and the television was off, but the second screen in the front bar was airing Spanish football. This is where most of the seating is located. The bar supports three hand pumps, but two were unused leaving Wychwood’s Hobgoblin as the lone cask ale choice. The keg range was Fosters (£2.80 a pint), Carlsberg, San Miguel, Banks Amber and Original Smooth, Thatcher’s Gold and Guinness. This is a boozer, so I wasn’t surprised to see no food advertised.
Out the back is a covered patio area that is separated from the car park by a small lawn. I found the governor to be polite and I enjoyed my visit even though I was the only customer. This isn’t a place I would go out of my way to visit again, but I would use if I lived locally.
