Bucking Fastard left this review about Hootananny
A large ,dominant street corner building in tourist central Inverness,it bill's itself as a scottish music venue,on my visit this means scottish folk and country music but focussed on the tourist clientele with instruction to get a sing -a-long going with foot stomping and clapping. This was at 7.30pm on a Friday so I'm not sure about the accuracy of the CAMRA website description! The stage is infront of the main steet window with ranks of dining style tables for the audience. There is a staircase to a first floor area unvisited by me,while the bar is tucked away underneath these stairs to the right side.
We had heard reports of real ale but no handpumps were at the bar, just a very poor and boring selection of crap mainly multinational keg beer. The tourists will know no better but this really is a place to avoid at all costs,so faux and contrived.I wont darken their door again.

Super live music venue - with decent beer and plentiful whiskies.
A real joy. Highly recommended and best in Inverness,

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Hootananny
Well-known music bar, but with a Saturday afternoon ceilidh in full swing when I called in, with a mostly older clientele (some of whom were dancing sedately) and not at all what I was expecting. Stage at the front, with most of the tables between this and the bar area further back. Two more bars / venues on the upper floors. Two Black Isle beers on handpump - organic Heather Honey and Red Kite (£4.00).
