The Sheffield Tap is on Camra's heritage pubs inventory.

Unfortunately there is no departures board in the pub, so anyone passing the time before their train departs needs to keep a close eye on the time. The Tap can be accessed from Platform 1b except on Saturdays, and days when there is a football match on in Sheffield (Wednesday or United), so you may need to allow time for exiting the pub on the city side and then re-entering the station.

It's been over 12 years since my last visit to the Sheffield Tap. This is still one of the better station pubs in the country. It was not quite how I remembered it, as I think I was confusing it with the York Tap, which I rate as slightly better.

Thornbridge still have a fair presence on the bar here, but this is also now the site of the Tapped (Sheffield) Brewery. Cask ales were Kelham Island Easy Rider, Thornbridge Jaipur & Lucaria Ice Cream Porter, Thornbridge/Salopian Kashpur, Shiny Rocky, North Riding Citra Pale, Hawkshead Bitter, Tapped Jericho & Toha & Oakham Bishop's Farewell.

The cider was Lilley's Apple & Blackberry. There is also a good craft beer selection and a decent bottle/can choice. I assume you can take these away for your train journey.

The main bar area is an impressive tiled affair with a high ceiling. There are a few smaller rooms off here. Our choice of seating was the outdoor area adjoining the street, which in hindsight was not the most relaxing we could have chosen. Whilst the pub is on Platform 1 of the station, it can only be accessed from the street. Bouncers were on the door, as there was a football match on (coincidentally).

A good station pub, especially handy if you depart or arrive by this means (strikes permitting).

Lovely interior and exterior here at this conveniently located pub adjoined to the station. Was quite busy when I visited on a Saturday night whilst awaiting my next train. Several hand pumps on offer here. Shame the bouncer was quite rude and eager to escort people out who were having a few drinks. Well worth a visit though whilst waiting for you're next train.
