E TA left this review about Hobbits Restaurant Bar
A former off-licence, now a bistro and bar occupying the ground and first floors of this Victorian terrace just over the road from the Lord Nelson. As the name implies, there is a Middle Earth theme with lots of Tolkein-related clutter around the walls, although this makes it feel a bit dated. The staff were quite welcoming and jovial, although a bit weird in some respects. The food was OK but overpriced and a little pretentious, but it was freshly cooked and tasted OK. The beer was reasonably priced – there was one ale on draft, Hobgoblin, which was much too cold and basically spoiled as far as flavour went, while there was Speckled Hen, Imperial Red and Black Wych in bottles. But as not all those who wander are lost, it’s somewhere I would be happy to spend a few quiet hours.

Web URL is blank site, not a good sign
However went in at lunch time, for food mainly, as it is more foody than a boozey place
Darkish interior, one large room with bar at far end, wheelchairs may struggle with furniture and door ways
Mainly keg or wines, but one draught, HSB, which went down a treat, but at £3.10 bit pricier than I am used to, but then it is Hythe so to be expected
Food seems fine, again pricey, but I suppose fair given area and surroundings, nearly £6 for a sandwich / roll, but comes with chips / salad
Evening food is around £15 for main, £6 for starter. Vegetarian & specials available
No parking, but public ones nearby, as is the Lord Nelson which is just opposite
Just 2 stars on price & ambience but possible 3
