A proper plastic paddy place positioned on a prominent crossroads. Some but not all of the Orish boxes are ticked, Guinness tat, Irish road signs, a bit of failte this and slainte that and Jameson barrels as tables but there’s a few bits missing, not even any diddly diddly music being played. Two horseshoes of fairly standard stuff but thankfully Murphy’s stout was available as well as the tank Tennent’s from four tanks above the counter, the rest being unexceptional. Three screens above bench seating on two sides, tall tables or barrels with stools dotted about elsewhere. Fake newspaper articles line the gents toilet and the right hand door leads upstairs with the Craggy Island murals, the ladies powder room and a music venue.

On draught there is, Tennents, Guinness, Guinness Extra Cold, Heineken, Magners, Magners Dark Fruit, Drygate Pilsner, Hophouse 13. The door at the right of the bar leads to a stairwell which features a specially commissioned Father Ted mural. Artist Chris Rutterford created the 28ft mural which features favourites Father Ted Crilly, Father Dougal McGuire, Father Jack Hackett, Mrs Doyle, Bishop Brennan and other legendary Craggy Island characters. The upstairs level has an area that holds up to 300 where live music and live sports are on large screens. Also, every Sunday between 4pm to 6pm there is a traditional Irish folk music session. The place is open from 9am to 1am six days a week, and from 11 on Sundays.

Pretty formulaic “Irish bar” although it does have Tennent’s tank lager with the 4 tanks on display above the bar. Still haven’t visited the upstairs area. Does the job if crawling to/from the city centre and murrayfield/tynecastle stadiums.
