The room on the right was closed for a private meeting, but I caught a glimpse of two hand pumps through the window, and when I went through the door on the left as instructed there were two different beers on. I asked the server what the beers in the other room were, and she very kindly photographed the pump clips for me. I ended up with both of them, after my half of Boddingtons revived cask bitter proved to be end-of-barrel. Locally brewed Whim Magic Mushroom Mild 3.8% was priced at £6.50/pint while the Timothy Taylor Golden Best was an equally surprising £4.80/pint, considering how expensive that brewery's beers often are. Both were very good (NBSS 4), which wipes out all previous quibbles about prices and cloudiness. I've been meaning to come here since my daughter had Christmas dinner in this pub with her partner and my grandson, a toddler, and they enjoyed it very much.

Nice pub with friendly staff. Two rooms with decent real ale - Titanic Plum Porter was on offer. Also a nice fire in the grate.

The five hand pumps had three real ales on when I was here recently: Jennings Cumberland, Marstons Pedigree and Wells Bombardier - the usual suspects really. I was driving and had just had a permitted half in the previous pub, so it was ginger beer here for me.
The public bar to the right has a tiled floor and is long and fairly narrow. This is an old building with low ceilings, and there are pictures on the wall which show how its appearance has changed over the years: windows coming and going according to the rules on taxation or the whim of the owner. The other room to the left is slightly more upmarket and is of broader proportions.
