Quite a large barrel vaulted interior. 3 real ales and food served. Located towards the bottom end of the royal mile within walking distance of the Scottish parliament, Holyrood palace and Our Dynamic Earth. Framed album covers decorate the main bar area. Dog friendly.

The furthest down the hill of three very different pubs, it's basically four barrel vaults side by side with seating in the first two, including sofas and standard tables and chairs. The counter is in the second, doglegging into the third which is a bit of a storage area, the fourth is mysteriously curtained off so I played safe and didn't look, it's probably a music room judging by the the posters on the wall in the third vault. The customers were almost all youngish, there is a craft bar feel about the place in spite of only three pulls of beers from smaller Scots brewers. The counter through in to vault three has a T bar of stuff like Fosters, McEwans 70/-, Symonds Cider and Murphys, there is also a Czech lager. The main room, that is vault one and two, has some nice panelled walls with the classic album covers mentioned by Hondo, there are also some strings of fairy lights. It's GBG listed and deservedly so based on the quality of my pint.
