What obviously was a pleasant country pub, now gone a little bit too tidy and tastefully furnished and aiming squarely at the food brigade, although at least it hasn't gone gastro. Still a rather nice much-beamed interior with a fairly long room in two parts at the front and a large-windowed extension behind the bar with lovely views over the downs. To the rear is a large decked area, with an even larger conventional garden down below. Beers seem to be mainly from the Marston's range, although in a post-lockdown period only Razorback was labelled on the bank of three pumps and that had just run out, plus a Rosie's Pig for the cidermen. Felt nice enough though, and probably good for eating (food not sampled) or enjoying the garden.
