An out-of-the-box Brewer’s Fayre with everything that implies. It is attached to a Premier Inn (‘everything’s premier but the quality’). It has two or three car parks, and there is a scruffy garden with a children’s play area which also served as a large ashtray. Two pumps were on the bar advertising Doombar and Butcombe’s Bitter, but neither beer was available. The staff were friendly enough but were the usual young hired help rather than people who really knew what they were doing. The customers seemed to be mainly a group of mothers and their children assembling for an assault on a nursery school – it certainly didn’t seem to have any local regulars. It’s probably OK to stay in the hotel, but I really wouldn’t bother coming here for food or drink.
