The Strutt Arms Hotel is a beautiful building next to Milford Bridge, below which the river is held back by weirs to form a mill pond. The bar is to the right off the foyer or hotel reception area, with an extension towards the garden and river. At the time of my visit there were two sets of three hand pumps, with Jaipur and Dancing Duck Ay Up on one pair and Marstons Pedigree (NBSS 2) on the other; there's a blackboard listing the beers available, from which I deduced that I had missed Dancing Duck Dark Drake. By the looks of it, the floor and windows were original, but apparently the hotel subsequently closed for a refurbishment before reopening in November with the bar renamed Elephant & Peacock, so it may have changed. I'm not a fan of hotel bars, but this one was pleasant, light and airy. Pity about the beer.

NB On the Strutt Arms website it is made clear that the bar and restaurant are reopening as a separate business with an "Indian oriented menu" but will continue to operate with a "traditional pub feel" and no need to buy a meal if you just want a drink.
