Yes, definitely more of a hotel bar than a pub, which from inspection is unchanged from the review below. However, the key selling point here, and the reason we visited, is the fantastic spacious courtyard garden out the back that overlooks the sea and has its own small serving bar.
We visited lunchtime when most people were in the eat and the target demographic for this one were mainly ordering the Aperol Spritzers or a bottle of wine to go with it. There was one ale however on the printed menu in the form of Yates Islander from the IOW brewery which had to come from the main bar in the hotel. Sadly, when our ordered pints reached us they were clearly off and had to be returned in favour of Camden Pale Ale from the fizz taps.
So, things have not changed here. Come to eat in the restaurant or to enjoy lunch in the expansive outside courtyard, but don’t bother to come here just for a beer. Fortunately there are three nearby good traditional pubs for that.

More a hotel bar than pub, it's a room in the very centre of this fine Victorian hotel. A large brick fireplace dominates the room, which is carpeted and furnished comfortable. Staff were very pleasant, the atmosphere was unspoilt by electronic noise, though there was WiFI available. Only one ale on, and it was expensive. Yate's Brewery had done a special for the hotel, but it wasn't good value. A decent place to come and sit quietly, maybe as a precursor to visiting their restaurant, but I wouldn't include in a crawl or send an evening drinking here.
