Absolutely brilliant beam and daub build with rear beer garden. There is a small back serving bar with 4 ales (Butty Bach, HPA, Worcestershire Way and an excellent Enville Ginger. Service was very good and a few old chaps were in. The front area is divided into three with a sofa area, a larger central area with a brick fireplace, and a small room (TV not on) with a dartboard (yes, got a 180!). Music was at a decent level and not chart stuff! Class, a must do even if a stiff climb is needed up the hill.

A cracking traditional old pub just out of town. 4 ales plus a cider on offer. Darwin's Origin. Wye HPA, Butty Bach and Bewdley Worcestershire Way. I went for the Origin which was excellent. Nice beer garden out back. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely old three-roomed pub on the way back into town from the Hop Pole. The pub sign seems to make clear that it is named in honour of Charles II, and it looks old enough to be original (the pub, not the sign). The interior is not though, as the front rooms have clearly been opened out to some extent. The back room is where the bar counter will be found, with four hand pumps (see photo). I went for the Three Tuns XXX Pale, which was in very good condition. This is a proper old fashioned village local, the sort where a passing stranger is immediately accepted as one of the company. There's mostly traditional seating, though there are deep sofas in the room to the right. Definitely worth that long pull up the hill from the town centre.
