Recently reopened, now with a Thai restaurant upstairs. The bar downstairs has been done up in the Thwaites modern style, with plain grey and white paint on the walls, and no further adornment at the time of my visit - perhaps they haven't got around to hanging any pictures yet. We got a friendly welcome from the person behind the bar when we made this our first stop on a Denby Dale circuit - an unplanned stop as we didn't know the pub was no longer closed. Its proximity to the station made it a handy last stop as well, and we got another friendly greeting from a different server.
Beers from the Thwaites range: Nutty Black, Wainwright and the seasonal Good Elf. Beers were in good nick and this is a welcome addition to the Denby Dale circuit.
