1930's pub on a busy street corner, there is an open plan interior with two main sections, right to the carpeted tap room with a very long bench seat below the flatscreen with lots of brittania tables, some fruit machines but little in the way of wall decoration. The left section has a small raised seating booth, then more bench seating before a small stage in the corner.I may have missed a seperate side room, closed I believe on my visit. There is a community feel in here with the external board listing events most days, live music on Saturdays.
Sadly two handpumps stand felorn used to hold kitchen roll and the keg selection is exclusively multinational brands from which the best option was Neck Oil ,dull as ditch water.
The regulars were very mature and likely to stay for an extended period.Real ale would have helped but this isn't somewhere where I will be rushing back to ,the Dodo micro is a mere stones throw away.

There’s no real ale, and no sign of food when I visited on Wednesday afternoon. I guess this must be an Irish pub, judging by the Irish accents in evidence and the Gaelic themed decor around the place. Racing was being shown on the televisions, and I also saw a sign saying that BT and GAA Sports were shown. Live music seems to be a big thing here – I saw the Happy Murphys advertised and due to play “pop and Irish” music.
The pub itself is quite a sprawling affair that looks as if it’s spread out into adjoining premises. In fact it’s quite traditional in having three completely separate bars and being traditionally furnished with brown plastic upholstered banquettes, metal framed rectangular tables and standard chairs. The gantry above the bar in which I sat had an assortment of jugs and barrels which made it look as if someone had made an effort to give it a bit of individuality. But it’s a plain and simple locals’ pub, and not one to which I’m likely to return.
