Formulaic O'Neills, but very nicely done and very smart. Lots of old looking wood as usual with an eclectic mix of tables, chairs, stools etc plus a quiz machine. There's a great beer garden at the back which was absolutely roasting on my Thursday, late afternoon visit. 4 handpumps on the bar doubling up with Doom Bar and Adnams Southwold Bitter. The Adnams was a very good pint, well above expectation, but they are Cask Marque accredited, so it should be decent. The friendly and chatty barmaid added to the positive experience. I'd happily call in here again next time I'm in Northampton, especially if it was sunny.
