ROB Camra left this review about King & Cask
Now renamed the King & Cask. The Kings Bar is the Elvis themed lounge to the lefthand side of the pub which is generally only open at weekends although the landlord will let you have a look around on other days. There's loads of Elvis memorabilia including records and pictures in conjunction with the North of England premier Elvis collection. The cask is in the righthand side where there were 2 handpumps badged and a third unused during our visit. I had a pint of Butchers Dog Mild which was in good nick. It was rather quiet on a Tuesday evening, but pleasant enough. It's not going to be a regular haunt, but it's much better than it was.

Old Boots left this review about The Durham Hotel
I think this pub had just reopened after being mothballed, the lack of drinks certainly suggested so, there is a hand pull in the lounge but that was Caledonian Flying Scotsman and was reversed, the only beer in the place was John Smith's Smooth which was drinking agony. It's a two bar set up although the room labelled lounge has machines, a pool table and mainly spartan seating. The bar has bench seats and stools at round wooden tables, there's a small stage at one end with big speakers and a screen, there's also a dodgy smell. There will be a choice of 6 assorted kegs in each bar and it's probably OK for the locals who don't want to walk too far

Liz Adamson left this review about The Durham Hotel
This is because the manager who was there in August left in the begining of March 2011 and they now have a new manager who is not as funny. The beer is not to the same standards as it was with the old manager, And some of the locals now hire a bus to go and visit the old manager at his new pub.
