Has had somewhat of a going-over inside and is a bit less cosy but still feels looked-after. Craft Union branded now and popular every day with a rumbustious though well-behaved crowd in. One of the two pumps had a turned clip, so cask may make an appearance at weekends? Guinness was fine and I mildly enjoyed myself.

An old fashioned rowdy male-oriented boozer. To be fair it was rammed on a cold Saturday afternoon in January with loud music and Soccer Saturday being the main points of order. Friendly though, especially given that we looked quite obviously out of place. Interior consists of L shaped main bat with a games room (pool, darts and trophy cabinet) behind. Décor-wise, it’s brown quarter length wood, off-white walls and some fabric banquettes. Two ales, Wells Xmas Stuffing (let’s hope it hadn’t been on since Xmas…) and a surprisingly palatable Doom Bar. 10% CAMRA discount too, not an obvious place to be offering it, but there you go. Cobs behind bar, proper Leicester. It was alright, I was expecting much worse. Rated 5
