Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The New Talbot

Quite a good-looking pub, with some light carved masonry contrasting with the dark brickwork. Retains much of its original multi-room interior, with the two bars - the main one extending to further seating / pool areas to the side and back, and the other a small lounge (with a much larger restaurant beyond). However, although it has been refurbished at stage, this was done in a very plain semi-modern style. With a pair of handpumps on each counter, I found Wye Valley Golden Ale and a decent Enville Ale (good value at just £2.90).

This is a detached pub, with rear patio area. It is a 1920/30s build in mock-Tudor style and takes its name from the small colliery and Talbot Cottage (possibly a public house - there was a Talbot pub listed in 1834, as a part of the colliery), which were nearby. It is an attractive pub, mainly in undressed brick, but with moulded stonework around the doors and windows, as well as the front facing gable. Also has prominent brick stacks. The interior has a function room at the back and a couple of areas at the front. The first is through an open archway, to the left. This is in red and wood panel with a laminate floor and looks set-up more for food. They do serve Indian food here, but i didnt eat, or see the menu. The main room is L-shaped and tries to do everything - it incorporates the old bar with perimeter seats and tile floor, as well as having a sofa, pool table, cafe style tables and chairs where there is more laminate flooring. It is in cream and pale green, with no real pictures and TVs, showing the footy. The service was fine and a mix of locals were in. Beer; usual tap stuff, with Banks's MILD as well as a single handpull - Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbody's Summertime Ale - it was a tad warm. A nice exterior, but now a little soulless inside for me. Great to see a real ale and hopefully it will improve in cooler temperatures. Happy i popped in for a swifty.
