A reasonably-impressive large free-standing pub, but gone a bit naff inside as mentioned in the last review. It seemed to be popular with the locals though, with numerous 'what's on' signs and a good pair of dartboards in the big room at the back. Just as I entered they were putting out trays of food in the bar. Oh dear, I thought, a private party - hope it's still open. Then very pleased to discover this was the (considerable) leftovers from same being put out for general consumption - result! The only downside was that the half dozen handpumps just carried one hand-written tag for Old Speckled Hen, although in fairness it was in reasonable condition.

Large and knocked-about barn, much changed since the older reviews predating Wu-Flu. There’s two rooms here via an opened-out side corridor. The dreaded COVID paintbrush has given us a fairly hideous three shades of green glooped all over the wood trim and bar and the carpet has been binned. The stained glass window uppers are at least retained. Jumbo drop-down screen with a washed-out visual showing booming football to an audience of nil. Six pumps but just one on, a strange choice of Black Sheep Respire which had been cooking in the pipe and was closer to Perspire (NBSS 2); no sign of any Youngs beers. Tacky place all round.
