Delighted to find a pub in a very small hamlet open at midday in the weeek. This is a Thwaites house - with four of their real ales on. Gold in perfect condition. Friendly bar man/waiter. The only other punters in today (three groups) were all in for food. But the bar remains "pubby", even if the fire is electric effect rather than real. A posher restaurant to the side.
Bit disappointed to find quite a premium for having halves. And all cask was over a £5. We had a couple of sandwiches (nice but >£10) and should I be disappointed to find an automatic 8% service charge added. The owner is the only fella working front of house.
