A distinct tang of fish alerts you to the speciality of this cosy eating house, which is secreted down the end of a lane through a pretty village. That and the pizza oven outside the back door. Inside there are four smallish rooms arranged round a smallish bar. One corner acts as a snug, the rest are all laid up for dining in similar fashion, with old country furniture and numerous fish-related decorations. Perhaps a slight grumble at the dated Spanish-style rough plasterwork, but otherwise all very nice. Outside there is a covered patio area, a more-rustic benched area and two "Moroccan-style teepees" which can be reserved for small groups to dine in. Cask ales were TT Landlord, Theakston's Best and an excellent condition Yorkshire Heart Silver Heart. As suggested, the food majors on fish and pizza but is very good, if not cheap.

Pleasantly modernised village inn, at the far end of the village, the welcome smell of a wood burning stove on entry as there was snow covering the carpark when I visited. Tasteful decor, a mixture of modern and traditional. Excellent Black Sheep supported by Youngs Bitter, a bit of a rarity in Yorkshire, and Hobgoblin on as a guest. A small but well chosen list of malts representing all the Scotch whisky producing regions. Other beers are John Smiths smooth, Carling, Fosters, Strongbow etc, plus the less common Staropramen. Food very much part of the set up but I didn't try any so can't comment.
