The Duke of Cumberland sits next to a car park on what used to be the market place - in fact a market is still held here on Thursdays. It consists of two buildings, the one facing the market place having a look of importance, possibly enhanced by the Dutch gables at either end. The second building has the more ordinary look of an afterthought. Once inside, the pub is all one large space with a modern stone, or reconstituted stone floor. The bar has four hand pumps and being a Marstons pub the beers available were Hobgoblin, Pedigree and Sunbeam. I went for the Pedigree which was in decent condition but nothing special.
