I'm not sure what water this pretentious bar is supposed to be fronting, perhaps there is a paddling pool on the common opposite. This is one of those all too prevalent stripped out wood floored places with twinkly lights, arty prints, braying clientele and hence a complete lack of pubbiness. L shaped, mixed seating as you'd expect, light decor and ceiling fans. Over the bar is the pizza menu and wine and cocktail list, they do serve a single real ale, Doom Bar it was, unnecessarily sparklered, and at the outrageous price of £4.25. TVs showing the Olympics, some outdoor seating.
I won't be back, it was dreadful.

This looks like a bank conversion to me – or in any case I don’t recall it being a pub when I used to live in this part of the world until the 70s. Inside it’s bare boarded, with solid wood and not particularly comfortable furnishings, including more than its fair share of tall tables/stools and those re-cycled little old school chairs that we see too many of these days. Some Olympics events were being shown on the TVs, with the sound blaring out throughout the pub. There was just the one real ale on – Doom Bar, at an eye-watering £4.25 a pint. But this place seems a bit food orientated with a large chalkboard pizza menu behind the bar offering a range of different pizzas mostly around the £10 mark. Maybe they are good value as one could tell by the smell pervading the pub that they were selling them, although I suspect that if the ale price is anything to go by they might be overpriced.
But the place was doing a very good trade on Thursday evening, so they must be offering what a lot of people want. However, I do not expect to be making a return visit.
