A suburban Marstons pub that was undergoing a refurbishment at the time of my visit, with wet paint signs and one toilet closed. The staff seemed to be coping well with the disruption, though I had to wait a while to get my beer as the processing of food orders for other customers was taking some time. Service was friendly and welcoming, but it was disappointing that there was only one real ale although there were five hand pumps - one dedicated to cider, which was also not on. Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold is one of the worst beers in the Marstons stable, the only point in its favour being that it was in reasonable condition. This is an unusual building, dominated by its car park and with a playground just outside the front door - or one of the front doors. If there were more real ales on (which I presume is normally the case), this would possibly be worth the walk out of town - though it is a Marstons pub, when all's said and done.
