Not much has changed since Alan was here more than 12 years ago, though the pool table has gone and everything looks pretty smart, with nice tables and chairs for dining. The small area around the bar has one high table and some stools. The bar has five hand pumps with Bowness Bay Swan Blonde the only beer on (Monday lunchtime); there was an Ossett White Rat pump clip too, but when someone asked for it, there turned out to be nothing on. The Blonde was not very good: a bit fizzy and sweet, more like a ginger ale than a real ale. This is pretty poor from a pub whose WiFi code is Realales! The other pump clips turned round were Wainwright, Landlord and Black Sheep. It must have been a hectic weekend. Fans of modern pop music will love the background music.

The Royal Oak is a largish stand alone pub that is set back and above the road.
There were a few tables at the front of the pub and once inside there was a small bar facing this area had a stone floor, there was another small room to the left which had carpets and normal tables and chairs,to the right was a larger raised seating area this had bench seating and small tables and stools and to the rear of this room there was a pool room which had bare boards and looked quite nice in my opinion.
There were six real ales on the bar i had a drink of Coniston Bluebird and this was a very nice drink, the other beers were Taylor Landlord, Jennings Cocker Hoop / Cumberland,Pedigree and Tetley bitter.
This was a very pleasant pub to have a drink in and i thought it was a very nice pub.

What I'd term a plastic pub. Not for me as not a place for a pleasant drink but if you fancy all to familiar pub grub!!
But did have 3 real ales and dogs welcome.
