Oscar's bar and restaurant is situated on the ground floor and occupies the Charlotte Street frontage of the hotel,so there are good views of the street scene while drinking.There are doormen to both the hotel and bar entrance,and the serving bar runs along the side wall of a large open plan room ,with dining tables occupying the space away from the frontage.Above the bar is a bust of a former king,my poor grasp of history rendered indentification impossible.There are no draught taps of any description ,although bottles of lager are sold.This is an upmarket cocktail bar in a designer hotel with prices to match and the clientele appear sophisticated to the untrained eye.Lots of vertical drinking at the bar ,which has an array of bar stools,and there is an excess of noisy chat so no need for musak.A place to be seen,trendy and full of opportunities to employ your favourite chat up lines,this bar may not find favour with the ale drinking fraternity but it is good at what it does.
