The Cherwell is a large open plan town centre boozer that sits behind some picnic tables and planters full of gravel out front. Inside, the serving counter is found across the rear wall to the left where it faces a row of high tables on laminate flooring before a large carpeted area with lots of open plan seating in the left front. A couple of pool tables are found along the rear wall to the right of the counter and in the front right is a raised seating area where a dartboard can be found adjacent to some banquettes that run up the right-hand wall. Televisions throughout were airing muted midweek late afternoon Sky Sports while some generic modern music played in the background. Standard, premium and mainstream craft products were available and I counted eight hand pumps, but four were unused and the Doom Bar was off which left London Pride alongside a couple of Lilley’s cider options. This is a characterless ex Spoons that I’ll be walking past next time.
