The Railway is a Holt’s pub that looks like a shop conversion from the left, but the right-hand view reveals that it is in fact a proper pub. There’s seating in the windows either side of the central entrance and the bar counter runs up the left facing seating to the right. At the rear is some open plan seating where a television for airing Sky Sports resides. The sound was in competition with the background music in the bar area. This is a small and basic pub, but the cask options were better than most of this chain’s pubs with Bitter, Two Hoots (decent) and Fools Gold being available. I’m not sure that I’d go out of my way to revisit, but the service was polite and beer good so I’d pop back if passing.

Traditional Holts (do they come in any other flavour). Holts bitter in fine condition.

Separate rooms, partitioned off.

A decent enough Holts pub. Open plan with little snugs to the right as you enter and a tiny area to the left. The rear of the pub is a small lounge like area. 7 handpumps on the bar with Holts beers on most and the others for guest ales and cider.
