A prominent and imposing street corner on pub on the bridge over Leith’s pleasant waterfront area, this seems to be very much food focused and we were initially told that there were so spaces available when we said we hadn’t booked, before they decided that there was one small table with high chairs we could use as “diners don’t like that one”. That said, the staff were all pleasant and friendly, especially the landlord who seemed a jovial chap, but clearly drinkers are not their priority.
Décor wise it’s quite traditional with much exposed stone walling at the front of the pub and wood strip on the floors. Paintwork elsewhere is mostly deep blue on the walls, with plain white ceilings and some detailed gold coving. A couple of blackboards listed the specials from the menu and the wine choice, but there was little else of any note.
Beers on tap were Stewart’s Pentland IPA and Trooper’s Day of the Dead, whilst two further pumps appeared unused. The solitary cider meanwhile was Inch’s Medium Apple, which came in at a rather pricey £6.

Very food-oriented and touristy, with a greeter to show you to a table. I just asked for a corner of a shelf to park my beer on while I wrote a derogatory review for Pubs Galore. No, not really.
Service was at the effusive end of the spectrum, which I think must come at an extra charge because my half of Fyne Jarl, an ordinary bitter at 3.8%, cost me £2.30. Other options were Caledonian Deuchars IPA and Edinburgh Castle, plus Theakstons Best Bitter. At least, that's what my notes say, but at three months remove I find it incredible that anyone would waste time and money bringing that boring old beer all the way to Leith when they've got boring beers of their own right here in Edinburgh.

Another pub on the Shore where you don't think you should be sitting at a table if you're not eating. This has more of a pub feel than some others though. Four handpumps, two Cally's and two Harviestoun's, I had a decent pint of the Schiehallion.
