Old Boots left this review about Bannerman's Bar

Two bar corner plus “gig room” pub, a bit earthy, stone floor and walls, low basic furnishings. Its got three pulls, a Stewarts, a cider and a very acceptable Broughton Wee Jock in the main front bar. A couple of T -Bars with local favourites and eurofizz complete the line up. A mixed bag of dodgy punters, auld lads and young lasses, likewise the staff but full of life in the main. Heavy metal soundtrack in the front bar, live heavy metal thrash in the side gig room. A couple of screens and various posters as decor, more screens and comfy chairs in the back room with a single T-Bar.

Pub and live music venue. A dark interior with flagstone flooring and exposed brickwork. The pub has a pool table and food is available. 3 real ales.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Bannermans

Small, dark bar in the always gloomy Cowgate, and which somehow gives the impression that it is in a basement (which it isn't, quite). Three real ales on handpump, including the seasonal Caledonian 'Over the Bar' (expensive at £3.50). However, I suspect most people come for the live music rather than the beer, despite the place having one of the smallest 'stages' going. Overall, quite a good atmosphere if there is a band on that you like, overwise probably not worth going out of your way for.
