A serious fire has all but destroyed the building this morning. Remaining structure is unsafe and requires demolition.

This is a huge wedge shaped 30's built pub situated on the green opposite Worcester Park station. Clearly pubco run, note the big menus full of glossy pictures etc. The layout is open plan however the shape of the pub plus the furnishings still give the feel of seperate areas which in fairness does work as the clientele are very mixed. There is a pool table to the rear right hand side on entering. The bar is central as you'd expect, four handpumps serving a basic London selection of Courage Best, GK IPA, Young's Bitter and London Pride. How dull. The Pride however was ok and surprisingly decent value at £2.89.
Mixed seating but lots of sofas, mainly carpeted but with wood flooring around the bar edge. A few TVs dotted around.
Live music advertised some nights, mainly weekends.

Seemed very clean, very scrubbed and light and airy. There are lots of sofas, and the usual Muzak type of pop music being played. It has the Spirit Group/Punch look about it. But they did have three ales on: GKIPA, Abbot Ale and Adnam's Broadside. I think this is an ordinary pub that is trying to look sophisticated. However, this is undoubtedly the best pub in Worcester Park, though it is totally lacking in atmosphere. There are a lot of worse pubs around than this one, but I wouldn't make a special effort, but it is handy if you're stuck in Worcester Park waiting for a train, as I was.
