Mitchell & Butler have now rebranded this pub into their Miller & Carter Steakhouse chain. It's still as much of a restaurant as it was when it was a Harvester. As before, the restaurant area is on the left as you enter, with the bar area on the right. The outside seating is still there at the front, the "Dick Turpin" snug bar is essentially unchanged, and there's still no real ale. Not much change then; although the menu is a bit different.

A Harvester in which we were indeed intercepted by a menu-waving waitress on our way in one recent Sunday early evening, but managed to escape to the bar area which as others have commented is much more pleasant and traditional than the eating area. Alas the place was busier than the staff could cope with, and we eventually gave up on getting served a drink and went elsewhere. Our subsequent visit one Saturday evening found it very quiet, but still involved a seemingly endless wait at the bar whilst the barman was a few feet away chatting with the other two people who were there. On presenting myself right in front of him he make some ridiculous remark about not having wanted to move away from his till. In the absence of any real ale, the lager I eventually received didn’t seem to have been worth the wait. Maybe I just picked a couple of bad times to go in, but I don’t expect to return.
