What a shame. One of the best Charringtons exteriors I have seen ,it must be listed but the interior has been stripped out and is now souless.Multiple outside doors still exist but the open plan interior these days just has a higher section to the right side with the original two sided fireplace completely unused. There is at least a raised darts throw and a side snug now has a pool table .The modern furniture only adds to the gloom, multiple flatscreens dont help, pizze are available and there is occasional karaoke and live music which might breath some life into the pub but as it stands ,with no real ale as expected ,this is a pub to walk past while admiring the brown glazed tiling.I had to settle for a half of Neck Oil.It could be so much better if only someone would care.

Dating from 1910 and courtesy of Garters of Poole, the façade is as mentioned, absolutely beautiful; I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it.
Otherwise, the previous reviews still apply, to a pub which has had the soul ripped out of it: modern furniture, flashing games machine, Warhol-style artwork of Nelson, darts to the right on entering, pool to the left rear, the pub boasting five TVs showing every sport devised by mankind. You can get a good feel for the place on their website, with a stunning closeup of a burger and fried onion ring, jelly shots, JägerBombs, as well as a fantastic Englebert Humperdinck lookalike; customers are on display and typical of the type I espied last Saturday night, though very few in number and of mixed age, typical locals.
With no cask and the overall ensemble, I decided not stay; the Sultan is a short walk.

The excellent Charrington's external signage and tiling, including tiled murals depicting the eponymous Lord and Admiral, as well as HMS Victory, his flagship at Trafalgar, are all thankfully still in place. Nelson loved Merton - his home was just down the road roughly where the High Path estate sits today - and his name is commemorated in many ways, including names of pubs, in the borough of Merton.
But inside the pub's very ordinary, with a couple of tall tables/tall stools and ordinary tables and chairs around the edges. There's little decor worth mentioning, excepting perhaps the "pop art" stylised depictions of the Admiral's head on one of the walls. However, there is a pool table and a dartboard.
There was just the one ale on - Doom Bar, which was in very poor condition. I didn't see any sign of food on menus on Tuesday evening. I popped in here because I had 20 minutes or so to fill, but I don't plan to visit again. What a shame that a pub with such a striking and magnificent exterior has fallen so low.
