ORIGINAL REVIEW December 2025 as The Other Side.
This was a Cafe Rouge, then pizzeria Proove but has been reopened by the people who ran the Quiet Man on the otherside of Parliament Square in October 2025,hence the name. It's a work in progress, the old pizzeria signage is still up,while the small bar to the left of the entrance is quite sparse with just mainstream keg beers.Appears to be open most days ,just 3-9 on Mondays but check first. To the rear of the pub there is a stage for live music. This is a popular venue with a youngish crowd, which might explain the buxom barmaids. The slightly older female co owner in her fishnet basque was much appreciated by the more mature customers.
Shame there is no real ale at present,I will update as the beer offering expands, good luck to the former Quiet Man team who ran a decent pub there.
UPDATE
Now renamed The Quiet Man,the refurb of the interior has produced the same vibe as the original pub of this name opposite. The bar is more substantial and Irish in feel with a low display of various keg products but two original Guinness fonts to one side while the three handpumps offered St Austell Tribute,Fullers Dark Star Hophead (NBSS good) with the third pump unclipped.
There is an upright piano beyond the bar with a pianist on my Saturday evening visit, before bench seating on both sides of the rear section with brittania tables. There is a seperate darts throw.Three flatscreens around the interior will show live sport at volume and it's a lively place aided by friendly and capable young barmaids and joint owners who are very attractive middle aged women, which keeps the young bucks interested.
It's a proper boozer, lively and noisy and most certainly worth a visit when in town.I was pleasantly surprised by the ale quality.Early in the week opens at 4pm,more traditional pub hours later in the week.
